Our first last day of school this year was with zoo school. We did zoo school this year to just add a little something new to help Meredith ease into our upcoming year of Kindergarten. It was such a fun time for Meredith - she loved her teachers, Miss Julie and Miss Angela and the teenagers that helped in her class. Each week they learned about a different animal, then took a hike to go see them in the zoo. It really was such a fun experience that we are all going to miss! After the show, we browsed the zoo a bit more, had a picnic lunch, and then a special frozen yogurt treat.
On the last day, we did a family hike and got to go see the new live show at the zoo!
Not only is Meredith going to miss her class, Zoo School Wednesdays have been really special for Jillian and me, too. This has been our only real one-on-one time this year, and we have really loved it! We spent a good majority of those Wednesdays at the zoo together and just got to go at a nice, slow, Jillian-led pace. As the little sister, she doesn't often get to call all the shots, so I think this was a really neat time for her - plus, nothing made this girl happier than seeing hippos about once a week! Those days also included us going to Barnes and Noble A TON. The zoo officially opens an hour after zoo school starts, so B&N was about our only choice nearby for a time killer. So, she and I would read endless books, play with their train table, build with their legos, and put on shows on their little story time stage. On days that were too yucky for the zoo (or maybe we were on zoo overload!) we headed to the museum - often with friends (we tried to convince Caleb to join us as often as we could!) and even a few times with Landon! So, now that we are approaching are second week without zoo school, I think we all might be getting the itch to go see some animals soon!
