Trying out the Dallas Zoo

We are Ft. Worth zoo loyalists - I mean, we have had a membership there since Meredith was about 9 months old and we could give tours of that place in our sleep!  We just love it.  So there was never really a reason to drive to the Dallas Zoo - especially because I had always heard that it wasn't as good of a zoo.  But Meredith got a free pass at school, so we decided to try it out!  I was super impressed and definitely want to go back!  Don't get me wrong, I still love my Ft. Worth Zoo, but Dallas has some really fun things that made this is a great trip!

First up - feeding giraffes was definitely a treat for all of us!  The girls loved it!

We needed Daddy to see the Dallas meerkats.

We took a ride on the tram with Gigi!

The only hippo we saw was a statue one, so that is definitely a minus in the Dallas zoo column.

Luckily, they had a great otter exhibit, so Jillian forgave them for the lack of hippos!

And look!  We found our friend, the elephant statue.  She was going to do her normal climb-on-the-back pose, but it was way too hot!

Silly turtles

We happened into a bird show and Meredith actually got called up on stage - she got to decide if things could be recycled or had to be thrown away.  Then the crow would go and confirm if she was right.  It was fun and Meredith loved getting to participate!

Wading in the little creek was a great way to cool off after a long day at the zoo

Before heading out the girls hopped on the carousel - they loved all the animals they could choose from!
