Day Camp Day

We didn't take any time to rest on Monday, it was our last full day at the YMCA, so we had signed the girls up for their day camp, which we had heard was the best thing ever! They both did a swim day as a part of their camp but also got to play lots of games, learn songs, and just have a ton of fun!  While they were at camp, Neal and I headed into downtown Estes Park, where we did a little souvenir shopping and had lunch.  We picked a cute little restaurant that served fun hot dogs.  After we hit up Estes Park Brewery for a little beer tasting -  such a highlight for Neal!
We headed back to the YMCA in time for Neal and I to take an archery lesson.

Not bad, right?  Of course, I didn't have Neal take pictures of the arrows that went over the hay bails and you can also see 2 of my others on this same target - one waaaaay low and one waaaay to the right.  But whatever.

We had so much fun with this!  We both would have loved to take another lesson or two!

We went right over to pick the girls up from camp - can you tell they had a blast!  These girls were covered in head to toe dirt, but they couldn't be happier!  As we talked to them about their day, Jillian told us "I played with Lily - she is my BFF!" We went along with this (just about anyone can be this girl's BFF, so why not a new friend from camp, right?) Later, she mentioned Lily again, and started telling us it was her friend Lily, from school.  We told her she had to be mistaken - maybe it was just another Lily that looked like her Lily! But she was insistent.  But we pretty much wrote it off.  On the off-chance, I wrote her mom a message on Facebook asking if they were in Estes Park, but I didn't hear from her, so again, we moved on. Fast forward to us being home for a week, Lily's mom finally writes back to me and yes! They were in Estes Park and yes! Lily was at the same camp as Jillian!  Lily hadn't even mentioned it to them!  The funny thing (and probably the reason it was hard to fathom) was that Jillian was so nonchalant about the fact that her friend from home was not only in the same state MILES from home, but also in the same town, staying at the same place, and at the same day of day camp! So crazy!

Happy Day Camp Girls!  These girls are already begging to go back!

After camp, the girls went did a little class where they got to learn about animal tracks and went around the area to see what they could find on property.  There were so many things we wanted to do at the YMCA, so we tried to get as many in as possible!  As we were heading back to our lodge, Jillian spotted a playground and insisted we play!

After showers and dinner, we tried out the miniature golf course.  It had been quite some time since we had played, so it was a pretty looooong game with lots of teaching going on, but Meredith wouldn't stop asking to play again and again!

How Jillian waited her turn.

Heading back to the Lodge, we passed by a Drum Circle, so we stopped in for the last few minutes - everyone had a percussion instrument and played fun rhythms together.  It was a great way to end the evening!
