Celebrating Kindergartners

We have been blessed for the past 5 or more years to be a part of an amazing playgroup. We do lots of fun things together and there are some really fun traditions we have set up, too.  My favorite, though, has to be our Going to Kindergarten party.  Each year, we have a party where we bring a school supply for the new kindergartners, then all the moms and older kids go around and share what they are most excited for the kindergartners to get to do.  Finally, we end by reading Matthew 5:14-16 and praying over the kids.

Matthew 5:14-16
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Super excited about all her new fun toys
This year our party was a swim party, so you will note the wet hair!

Jackie, I think was the founder of this tradition, so even though she has moved away, she came back so she could celebrate with us as she sent Grace off to Kindergarten.  She started off reading the Matthew verses for us, but soon was too choked up to continue.
Merrick stepped in.  New rule - no kinder mom should read the verses!
